Hello folks, I'm sorry about the long absence. I've been going to school to get certified as a Medical Assistant this summer. I'm down to two more class for this fall and I'm done. So since I don't have all the studying to do I have time to dust off my stamps, and paper. I feel like I've missed out on lots since then, so I'm playing catch up with some of the card sketches, techniques and new paper. So without further a do here's my latest card.

I dove in, head first, into my local craft store to find the latest paper. Of course, Halloween decorations are already on the shelves. And after a quick visit to Splitcoaststampers, I discoveered everyone is doing Halloween cards, so why not. I purchased this cute 4x6 paper stack that got my attention. I wanted something that wasn't too cheesy and unique. Mission accomplished! Well I hope you like it. More cards to come!!

Hi! Thanks for stopping by. Today's card is inspired by this weeks My Favorite Things sketch. I used Fiskars Latte Love clear stamp set and Bella Rose dsp(retired) to best fit this sketch. I started with SU! Chocolate chip card stock for the base of the card. Layered it with Whisper white and Bella Rose. The sketch didn't call for ribbon, but I thought it made the card prettier. And then rather than using a plain scallop edge, I used EK Success Morocco Lace edge punch.

I also use a the Folded fan flower technique to center the image of the coffee cup to keep in theme with the sentiment. I hope you like, happy creating!

Hello folks, thanks for stopping by. Sorry for the delay on posting new creations, but I've been busy with starting summer school to become a Medical assistant. I'm very excited to start this new chapter of my life, i'm hoping things will go according to plan.... It's never too late to go to school and learn a new career or trade... especially during these hard times.

So today's card is thanks to this weeks Mojo Monday challenge. I was stuck for a while trying to create a special card for this sketch. But after a couple of tries and several trips to the craft store, I made up my mind on this one.lol I really loved this paper from Creative Imagination "Printed in USA". I came easy to me after that.

I think my favorite part of the sketch, would have to be the center for the sentiment. My sister reminded me of the fireworks, so I made some of my own. I hope you like, happy creating.

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by. This card was inspired by Mojo Monday's sketch #192. I'm a little late in posting it, but better late than never. I had a bit of a challenge with this one because the scalloped piece called for it to be covered. I had a hard time trying to find a piece that wasn't too busy to cover with the ribbon element after? And then there was this little fella I had from a long time ago when I was first starting out with stamping. I couldn't figure out out to color him without making him too scary looking? lol But as you can see I managed. I wanted to portray a "party animal" with the banners and then the sentiment pretty much helped me out in the end. I hope you like it!

Hello all, thanks for stopping by. Today's card is thanks to Jen Del Muro's I{heart}2stamp monthly sketch.

I really liked working with this sketch, it helped me work with less paper and use a technique rarely use.

Once again I used My Mind's Eye Stella Rose - Hattie and frayed the edges for a different look. My favorite part was the flower, the twine and string swirls. I punched two different size circles and used the stronger adhesive tape and then secured the string and twine slowly starting from the outside. I hope you like, Happy scrapping.

Greeting all, thanks for stopping by! Today's card required a little more brain power of my own..lol. What i mean is I didn't need a sketch to inspire this one. I just really like this paper for My mind's eye Fine and Dandy-True blue. I love buying these 6x6 collection pads to keep me from wasting paper and I appreciate it more. And it also helps me use every bit of scrap I have.

But I also purchased the coordinating chipboard and brads to help with building up to the dynamic of the card. And my favorite thing to do to my cards is to lift everything off the card rather than just slapping on some paper and have everything so flat. I hope you like, happy creating!

This was a fun sketch to work with because I was able construct it to convey the three elements... sky, water, and sand with the these prints. And I've had this clear stamp set from Inkadinkado Coastal/Maritime for some time now that I finally get to use.

So I thought nothing would be better than using Fiskars Latte Love clear stamps for this lovely paper. I had lots of fun putting this one together and somehow it took me less time than with simpler cards.Although i hated covering the flower print with another layer, but the sketch called for it. Hello folks, thanks for stopping by. Todays card was inspired by my absence and being away from friends and family, therefore I've missed a couple of Birthdays.

Also, I've had this lovely designer paper from My Mind's Eye - Lost and Found, that I've been dying to use. And I really like using SU! Sage Shadow, why they discountinued it, I don't know?! But I really like these color combos together, it gives a touch of elegance.
And it also gave me a chance to use my Deckle edge scissors. I used them on the edge of the Crumb card stock mounted on the designer paper. Just to get it a diferent dimension, other than using the same straight edges as the rest of the card.

Good Friends are like Stars...

Hello, sorry for the long absence. I've been in limbo with getting myself together since my last real job. I've mentioned before that I've been unemployed and I've been back and forth with different projects and changes since 2009. Its been a long journey to recovery to secure something better for me, so I'm going back to school to learn a trade. Luckily its for only 10 weeks, because life is leaving me behind! lol
Anyway, I've been away in Vegas, staying with my best friend hoping to find something there. Folks, I come to find out the Vegas has thee worst job market than California! After three months of not getting any where, I chalked it up to life lesson, and went back to L.A. Que sera, sera.

But I really, really missed my craft desk and all its goodies! So here we go.... this card was inspired by me having dinner with a friend that I haven't seen for a while, but I still have great camaraderie with. And with the help of this weeks Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 112 .

Please stop by Karen Giron's the sweetest thing blog, she has great weekly challenges. So I started off with SU! Chocolate chip for the base of the card, then followed up with Whisper white, Sage shadow and piece of My Mind's Eye Fine and Dandy True blue collection. I dried embossed it with Cuttlebug Spots & Dots folder. Instead of staying with the sketches basic square for the eye point, I replaced it with Spellbinder Nestabilities Labels 10. I then sponged the edges of the cut out with SU! Baja breeze ink and used the Fiskars Friends Forever Quotes for the sentiment. And before I tacked down the die cut I added three pieces of 1/4" Chocolate chip ribbon. Then I started with the basic black ink, then I took a Q-tip with rubber stamp cleaner and rubbed of the "stars" portion of the sentiment and filled it in with SU! Summer Sun color pen. And since the sketch looks really cute with the stars on the edge, I stuck with it. I used My Mind's Eye Fine and Dandy True blue chipboard companion using colaborating colors and shapes.I hope you like and thanks again for stopping by.

Hello folks, thank you for stopping by. My apologies for not posting more cards this week. I have a friend who's visiting from Las Vegas and I've been entertaining. Today's card was inspired by Angie from My Chic N' Scratch tri-fold card tutorial. I also purchased what I have to say is probably one of my favorite designer paper from My Mind's eye Fine and Dandy True blue collection.
I started with a SU! Chocolate chip for the base, followed Angie's tutorial for the score measurements. For the panels layered it with the basic colors provided by the paper kit. Then layered again with this very cute star pattern paper. For the centerpiece I used more of the chocolate chip and layered it again with another piece of the basic turquoise color used on the panels. then I used a different pattern piece with clouds.

When you purchase kits like this they sometimes offer extra items sold separately. Like chipboard stickers and theme colored brads. I purchased both but I could find a way to apply a brad into this card without over accessorizing. So I just used the cute little femine owl, the star and button tied with some twine. And last the sentiment is from SU! Short and sweet set and for the inside SU! Curvy Verses.

A glimpse of Heaven

Greetings all, thanks for stopping by. Today's card was inspired by Cali's recent weather patterns.... clouds, clouds, and more clouds. And since we're near Valentine's day, here you go.
I don't have a lot of red pattern paper or Valentine themed designer paper I improvised with my own creation. I started off with a basic white card stock and layered it with the paper I sponged clouds on. For the sponging I used a piece of SU! Scallop punch circle, held it tight with my fingers and sponged with SU!Baja Breeze craft ink. Start from the top of the paper and work your way down.
Next, I wanted to add an additional cloud piece where I added the drifting cat and my sentiment. I've had this image for years... I purchased it a little place in Long Beach that closed its door for some time now.

So then I added more dimension by lifting it with another plain piece and added the 3 brads on the bottom and the 3 ribbon pieces on its side. For some reason the number 3 has had some significance for me... maybe because it just three siblings in my immediate family... ah who know? lol And for the final touch, the small Valentine salutations from SU! A Happy heart set.

Three heart Valentine

Good morning folks, thanks for stopping by. I hope you're having a good weekend so far. I got up this morning with card sketches in my head... go figure. Somethings I go weeks without posting a card and now that's all I seem to think about. I'm actually more excited these days because I ordered some more Spellbinder nestabilities dies. I hope to get them by Monday to show you what I've ordered with new cards.

Today's card is another Valentine's creation... my sister has basically kept me busy these days due to her co-workers wanting handmade Valentine's day cards for their love ones. So I started off with a basic white card stock as the base and layered again with another piece of the same color. I gotta say that I'm really enjoying making cards this way, rather than over-whelming it with different color pieces. Sometimes the simplicity of the card can make it that more appealing.
Anyway, I then followed my centerpiece with Labels three using SU! Real red and Rockabilly specialty dsp (retired) and the heart from SU! Priceless set is with white ink and embossed with clear powder.

Next, I added the Grossgrain stitched red ribbon tied with a simple knotted bow. For the three heart pieces I used
1 1/4" for the white piece and the 1" for the red. I then used SU! Seasonal Icons set (retired) heart piece using SU! black craft ink and embossed it with clear powder.

The Happy Valentine sentiments used at the bottom and inside of the card is from SU! A happy heart set. and for the finishing step inside the card I used Martha Stewarts doily edge punch.

Hola everyone, thank you for stopping by. I hope everyone is in good spirits so far with the new year. I'm well on my way to coming up with more creative cards to share with you. But this card in particular was by far the easiest and fun to make. Todays card is in large part thanks to Terri from think Outside the Box: Pop up tent card tutorial. I followed her technique, but tweeked mine a bit.

I decided to cover the entire scallop shape rather than give it space for a small circle. The base of the card is is SU! Very Vanilla card stock, and the designer paper is from My mind's eye Be-loved. The edge of the card is from Martha Stewarts doily punch. The ribbon is from the local craft store which matches perfectly to the cardstock. And the sentiment is from SU! You & Moi set (retired). I hope you like, I hope to hear from you soon! First card for the New Year!

Hello all... thanks for stoping by. I hope your year has had a fantastic start. I made a point to not make any resolutions this year I didn't want to break..lol Instead I just made some changes a week before the New Year to psych myself out.. sounds coocky but it's worked.
Anyway, todays card was inspired by this weeks Mojo Monday weekly sketch. It looks pretty simple, but it challenged for sure. Since most of the big holidays are gone and the only one near is Valentines Day, I decided to give it a go. For the base of the card I used a a plain white card stock and layered it with basic black and BasicGrey Blush designer paper. My favorite thing about this particular paper was the cute little bird on the branch. I struggled with cutting a good piece to show off the design, but I managed. I followed with layering the longer piece with basic black and placing a dark red piece to give it some color. Next I used SU! Sage Shadow, and Basic gray for the square piece, and added the three silver brads.

Then, I used another piece sage shadow for a circle scalloped edge from spellbinder nestabilities, followed by another circle of basic gray and more of the polkadot BasicGrey designer paper. For the sentiment, I used SU! A Happy Heart set... using the large heart in the center on the scalloped circle and the greeting on the side. Hello folks, sorry about the long absence. after returning from my long awaited trip to my birth place, Colima Mexico, the holidays kicked in. I had one week for Christmas shopping and plan a lovely Christmas dinner for visiting family..... who had time to make a card, right? lol.
Now, that I have plans to ring in the new year, I found the some time to share with you my latest creation.

My card is inspired by this weeks Mojo Monday sketch. We have the choice between the circle or the square version... I went with the easier one I think.. the square version.

I've always thought of New Years as a black and white event so I went with it. I started off a plain white base and layered every piece with basic black. For the designer piece, I purchased a set from the local craft store from "Me & my big ideas". It contains different filigree designs and some with felt, which I thought helped me a lot with construction of the middle pieces because it prevented them from moving. Next, I cut four pieces of plain white card stock and embossed with Cuttlebug D'vine swirl folder. Then, cut another smaller piece and stamped balloons on one side using SU! Bitty Birthday, it was tricky but I made it work. And for the last piece, I used SU! A Brand New Year stamp and raised it with pop ups next to the balloons. And for an added touch, I used a sheer piece of ribbon.
For inside the card, I just used another piece of the same designer paper and layered it with some basic black. For the sentiment in the middle I used SU! wonderful words set.

Hello folks, thanks for stopping by. Todays card will probably be my last for the time being. See, I'm flying out to Mexico with my mom to see my father and the house I was last in almost 25 years ago. I was 13 years old when my father purchased this house. It's located in a perfect spot.... 10 minutes from the ocean resorts, and 20 minutes from the city. The weather is just what the doctor ordered and I can't wait to get there.

It's too bad I'll only be there for two weeks, but I prefer spending christmas in the States. I'm cutting it close to the 25th, but I felt like this was as good a time as ever to go while I still have the chance. so I wanted to post a card to send my love to all for this season to my return on the 18th. This card took me a week to put it together, what with my on going battle with this horrid cough, and getting last minute items for my trip.

I gotta say that my favorite piece of the card is the sentiment part! I love layering and elevating with the same color card stock then and stamping images on the edges. And since I didn't have a lot of Christmas designer paper I improvised by using one of my discontinued Stampin' up wheels and used that for the belt of the card? And since there was other prints working on this cards, I just used solid colors for the rest of the pieces to not over-whelm the centerpiece.

And last I wanted to rep the colors used on the front of the card inside the car..lol I used the scalloped edges for each color which I thought makes an awesome 3D effect. And I kept it simple with the little sentiment in the middle. I hope you like and have a beautiful and awesome Christmas everyone... Adios!

Winter wonderland Snowman

Hola friends, thanks for stopping by. I hope you had a great weekend, my was very windy. The weather in Southern Cali is what my friend would call "bipolar"? It changes from one extreme to another. ...lol. It really doesn't help my cold situation, because I've basically been hibernating since Monday of last week. It's been extremely cold for my taste during the night, and we've had fog. rain, and really gusty winds..... I know there's no such things as tornado's or hurricanes in L.A., but I imagine that's what the winds may sound like if I ever experienced one? Anyway, since "the weather outside is frightful".... lol. I thought I'd make this lovely card featuring a snowman in a "winter wonderland" motif. Again I'm experimenting more with lifting the backgrounds inches off the base card, it just gives it a more special feel to the card other than just the centerpiece to be the focal point. The snowman stamp I've had for quite some time. I like that it has it's own shadow as oppose to me adding the light blue hue to give it that effect. also it gave me the chance to finally use some of this SU! Baja Breeze striped ribbon.

And for the inside I wanted to play with another scene, by cutting piece of the same color card stock, Baja Breeze, and edge it with embossing glitter. Unfortunately the camera didn't capture it as I liked but trust me, it looks very pretty..lol And lastly I just wanted to add a simple sentiment, so as to give it room for a written message. Hello Folks, I hope you had a pleasant and hearty meal this Thanksgiving. As for me I could be doing better... I've been ill with the flu these days, but I at least have my love ones and a roof over my head, so I can't really complaint, right? So I mustard up some strength and made a trip to the local craft store for their sale on paper and stamp sets. I found this really cute set from "Fiskars" called Latte Love. It has a variation of tea cups, mugs and coffee containers with cheeky phrases like "you're tea-riffic", "thanks a latte" etc. The best part about clear stamp sets is that you can shape them to whatever angle you want. I wanted to fit the focal point with the phrase all in one to follow the sketch from "Taylor Expressions". I just missed it's deadline but I really liked the sketch that I still wanted to make something with it. I hope you like it?

Um from Umbridge Birthday

Hello everyone, thanks for stopping by...Today's card was inspired by Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland..... particularly the scene where Alice runs into The Queen of hearts, she introduces herself as "Um from Umbridge". I really fell in love with the dress they made her from the once she went into the Queens castle.

Well this was my inspiration, so the hard part was yet to come. It took me about two weeks to implement this onto a card?! I knew that I wanted to use the same colors shown on the picture but how do I use the same sheering of the dress. I kept in mind the McQueen card I did months ago and try to come close as possible to the design. For days my desk was in disarray.. failed designs, different drafts of cut pieces of black and white design paper and no success?! Then finally a break... Monday rolled around and Mojo Monday came to the rescue... after studying the sketch I knew I could come up with my card.

I started with a plain white base, then layered it with basic black. I used Real red cardstock for the left side and embossed it with Cuddle bug's "seeing spots" for texture. For the right side I used a stripped black and white design paper I purchased from the local craft store. now here comes the head scratcher... how would I add a sheered look for the card....? Then it hit me that I still had scraps of the chifon from my halloween costume... I stamped black hearts with "Stazons" black ink and to my surprise, the ink did not bleed through... so I didn't have to wait for it to dry. I then hit the sewing machine and sewed on the middle to then pull the thread for a ruffle effect.

To avoid the lift of the ruffle, I secured a piece of Real red 1/4" ribbon from the top of the card and use strong adhesive tape and strapped it down on the other end. For the centerpiece, I used the plain white paper layered with black and added the final piece.

I used my Spellbinder, Nestabilities scallop circle edge, sponped Baja breeze in the middle for shadow and added my digi-dressy Camille from Greeting Farm. And just like "Um's" dress I added itty bitty little hearts and stripes on her dress. And for the sentiment I used , what esle but the SU! Itty bitty birthday set of course..lol.

And here it is, the finished product... It took a while but it paid off in the end..I hope you like it.

Hello and thank you for stopping by. Today's card is inspired by Taylored Expressions sketch artist Jami Sibley.

So far this is one of my favorite sketches this month. I wanted to make a fall or autumn card, especially since I recently purchased a clear stamp set from Inkadinkado called Autumn foliage. Very pretty for set for thanksgiving or fall cards and crafts by the way.

Even though I mentioned the the new set I purchased I did find it hard to implement those images on to this card so I just used the sentiment and save it for another sketch.. so stay tuned...lol So for the base of the card I used SU! Crushed curry card stock followed by Very vanilla and for texture I used My minds eye Quite Contrary set and embossed it with Cuttlebugs D'vine swirl folder. For the middle pieces I used the Martha Stewart doily edge punch and a piece of the SU! Bella Rose dsp (retired) brown polka dot paper. For the centerpiece I used the Nestabilities Labels 3 to cut out the Crushed curry and Vanilla white. On the Vanilla piece I sponged the edges with SU! Baja breeze ink. for my sunflower and leaf images... I wish I remembered where I purchased it... it was so long ago... I just remembered that the place I purchased it from was called Stampa-Barbara.. neat, huh? lol And for the finishing touches, I used the Inkadinkado called Autumn foliage and for a splash of added color I used the black and white checkered ribbon... pretty huh..I hope you like.

Hi eveyone, I hope you're having a spectacular Halloween weekend... I know I have. I didn't realize how many costumes I owned... I had two parties to go to and I had 4 costumes to choose from of what was already in my closet from previous years.... It's one of my favorite holidays.

Okay, todays card is inspired from another verve sketch...... I don't own any of their pieces, but I hope to purchase some soon.

For the base of the card I started off with a basic SU! Whisper white cardstock, followed by Chocolate chip and Regal rose and for a pattern piece I used Pumpkin pie dsp. For three background pieces I used SU! Sweet always dsp. For the two larger pieces I used Pumpkin pie layered with another pumpkin pie pattern piece and Regal rose cardstock layered with the Whisper white stamped with the Fiskars Make a wish quote sentiment and I used the birthdat hats from SU!Party hearty set , flipped them upside down to give it a banner effect using the different colors shown on the pattern pieces. And for the finally touch I used a scalloped circle punch used the SU! Bitty birthday set for the 'happy birthday" sentiment. For the little cupcake I used the SU!Short & sweet set and finished it with a 1/4" chocolate chip ribbon and added some sparkle with the rhinestone brad.... I hope you like it... Happy Halloween!

Hey folks, thanks for stopping by. Today's card is from the Fiskars "Make a wish quotes". . . . "growing up is mandatory, growing up is optional"... I love that quote! So I wanted to make it a bit whimsical with the overall design. So I borrowed this sketch....

For the base of the card I started with a basic white and added SU! Raspberry tart dsp(retired) for the second layer. Next I used SU! Red rose and used SU! scalloped edge punch, followed by another piece of Raspberry tart dsp. Then I whipped out my SU! Circle scissor plus tool to cut out the thin circle piece... that took several tries because I needed to secure the piece to my glass cutting mat more securely... learned that the hard way..lol Continuing with a piece of Pretty in pink 1/4" ribbon. For the sentiment portion of the card I wanted to add extra color by stamping in some flowers with SU! Eastern blossoms with Red rose ink and tittered it with some Pink pirouette to give it a two shade dimension and for the tricky part... I used the Kiwi kiss ink for the leaf part by covering the flowers with a posted and added them in.

I finished it up with filling in the flower with SU! Stampin' write summer sun ink pen. And last the Fiskars Make a wish quote by Chili Davis... I hope you like... tootles.

Hi everyone, thanks for stopping by. I've been quite busy these days with a big project, going to school and planning a big trip to Mexico after Thanksgiving and returning just before Christmas... I'm cutting it close with the holidays... not much time for shopping, but it's the only time I can get away and the weather is awesome that time of year. Halloween is about two weeks away and I'm already gitty about Christmas holiday... I'm playing "The Holiday" movie (Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Jack Black) as I'm typing away on my blog... lol The weather has changed in So. Cal. again, .... It was nice and toasty on Monday and today we have clouds and a bit chilly..lol chilly... 68 degrees and I'm chilly... I'm sure some folks are rolling their eyes at the thought of that number being thought as chilly... that's room temperature for some..lol

Anyway, today's creation was thanks to Allison Ohran's tutorial for this brilliant gift card holder. I made several for different occasions, because this was so easy to make. I started with SU! Chocolate chip cardstock for the base, then SU! Kiwi kiss dsp(retired) and embossed it with Cuttlebug Spots and dots folder. For the centerpiece I used SU!Crumb cake cardstock and layered it with SU! Very vanilla. The sentiment is SU! Birthday wish stamped in Kiwi kiss ink. And last I lifted the centerpiece with pop-up dots and added the thin twine. To keep the mini card closed I used thin velcro pieces and the SU! Short and sweet set for this inside. I hope you like it.Toodles.

Hello, today I'm sharing one of my creations for which I will be selling at an event I was invited to in Las Vegas next month. I used my Scalloped edge Nestabilities frame on a folded 5x7" SU! Very Vanilla cardstock. I placed the frame just on the edge of the fold. I then used Cuttlebug "D'vine swirl" embossing folder for extra texture. For the center piece I used SU! Night of Navy cardstockmy Labels three Nestabilities frame and followed it with SU! Very Vanilla and Baja Breeze cardstock. And for the final touches I used SU! Say it with scallops set and SU! Hi everyone, thanks for stopping by. Is it me or does it seem like everyone is getting ready to start a new adventure? My niece and nephew are starting school tomorrow,and others are on new schedules at work... it just fells like a beginning to something? TV is starting a new line-up... I'm sad to see some of my shows end for the summer ... True Blood.. awhh.....but excited to see my Fall shows as well... Big Bang Theory, Vampire Dairies, Greys Anatomy....(sigh) But what I'm most excited for is me going back to school. I took one class in the spring and I was hooked. So now I'm enrolling in 4 classes this fall to strengthen my accounting skills for a better job title.and I'm really digging this crisp weather in So.Cal... I just love to pull out the sweaters, scarves, and gloves.... It also gives me an excuse to buy a new pair of killer boots..lol Well enough of my chatter... on to my creation.

Todays card was inspired by this weeks Mojo Monday challenge #155. I started off with "Kraft" cardstock for the base of the card, followed by "Very Vanilla" and "Sage Shadow". I chose the "Ancestry designer paper" from K&Company and dry embossed the three top pieces with cuddlebug's "Spots & Dots"folder. The bottom portion was dry embossed with Sizzix "Argyle" folder. I was a bit torn on what I could feature for center piece, but I came through with several pieces here. So I knew I needed to stick with the template calling for the circle as it's focul point.... no brainer... I used the 3-5/8" Spellbinder nestabilities scalloped large circle layered with 3-1/8" plain white cardstock for the sentiment. I found a set of Fiskars "friends forever quotes" clear rubber stamps for the sentiment in Stampin' Up "chocolate chip" ink. I also had these cute little sets I found at the local craft store in dollar bins by the registers that I thought made a beautiful background in again "Chocolate chip" and "Sage shadow" ink. For the finishing touch, I sponged "Baja Breeze" at the top of the circle to give it an effect of the sky. The ribbon is from Stampin Up in "kraft" and the button was tied on with twine. The tag was stamped with Stampin Up "Bitty Birthday" set. Well that's that... I hope you summer was fun and you're looking forward to new beginnings... Tooddles!

Friendship card

Hola friends, thanks for stopping by. I wanted to fill you in my latest endevour... Remember the friend I spent some time with in Vegas...? Well she's quiet the entrepreneur and she's always on the move. Right now her latest project is to provide an upscale location and information website to the local salsa dancers in Las Vegas. And an awesome idea... especially since the only time she can get in her salsa dancing, was when ever she had some business to attend to in L.A.... Hell, sometimes she'd drive 4 hours just to dance Salsa for the weekend... although she loves it so, we as her friends, couldn't help to worry about her when she'd go on her journey back home.(sigh)

Anyway, when she saw my latest creations, she brought up the thought of me selling my cards at the venue.... what a thoughtful friend. So here's a card with my friend Jackie in mind.

What I loved most about this card is that at first glance you'd think I used a purple color, but in reality it's actually the SU! Basic gray. I started with the basic gray for the base, followed by the "Old olive", the mirage piece if you will, the designer series "A walk in the park" paper. Mind you, if you saw the piece by itself, you'd know it was gray? But when placed against the "Old olive" I somehow got the illusion of the purple... baffling really. So I continue.... for the center piece, I started with a scalloped circle with "Sahara sand". Then I cut the next piece circle at 3 5/8" and dried embossed it with my cuddle bug template "Spots and Dots". I wanted to show the layereing pieces by giving it some texture. Then I added another piece of "Basic gray" at 2 3/4" followed by "Very Vanilla" cut by the Spellbinder die cutter in the "labels three" nestabilities set.

Hello folks, soooo sorry for all the delays. I'm finally getting situated with my financial woes and schedule. So here I am, ready to create and share. I want to start off with a card I made all my own with no help of a sketch.

I went to the local craft store and bought the elegant set of clear stamps from Inkadinkado called "Chandeliers". I started with basic black cardstock for the base of the card, followed by plain white paper and the Pretty in Pink cardstock from SU! I dried embossed pink piece for texture using the cuddle bug "Swiss dots" and added the black and white fancy print paper... Now I'm not quiet sure what you would call the design on that piece... you can really tell by the picture but it a fuss or felt on the actual print, which I thought bought out the black.

And finished it with the sentiment of "Birthdays count" doubled sided stamp from SU!, square brads and a black sheer ribbon on the top the card. As for the inside of the card, I never put too much thought before on adding anymore embellishments, but I think it adds more appeal to the card, dont you think? This economy has kicked me in the a** really bad.... What with no camera and no job to buy supplies, that I don't have any motivation to create with what I do have? But I have to keep on moving to pull myself back up. I have faith that things will be looking up very soon. I'm lucky to have such great support from my mom and sister to have patience with what I'm going through. I just wanted to keep in touch and I hope to be in better moods and have the resources to be able to do the one thing I really love.... to create.

Well folks, I've been home for a week now and couldn't love it any more! Fortunately I made it home by the time the rolling earthquake hit,... I prefer to be at home for those things, rather than on the road. It's kinda funny to think of such things as comfort of earthquakes, right? lol Anyway, while in Las Vegas, I had the misfortune of having my purse stolen along with my cellphone and awesome camera.... In the meantime, I have to wait til things pick up for me to buy myself a new one. It sucks to be hindered that way, having to wait, while everyone else gets to share their creations.

Hi folks, while being in Las Vegas I grew to appreciate L.A. a lot more than I thought. If you asked any one I know, they'd all say I loved Las Vegas, but I know now that I rather be a visitor than a resident. Life is soooo different here when you're trying to make a living here...... everyone is here for the hustle. I guess you can say I came here to "gamble, collect my winnings and put it to go use." Even though I've known my friend for about 5 to 6 years now, I took a big risk coming out here by living with her and working with her. Some friendships dissolve when you're not use to their work ethics or living habits, but I adjusted as best as I could and make it work. My goal also included making some money to pay for my studies, whether is was here in Vegas or back in L.A. Unfortunately, there are no adult schools here where I can enhance my office skills at a low price... only trade schools where you have to pay $12,000 to $25,000. One, I don't have that kind of money and two, no time to spend 2 to 4 years acquiring those skills. Fortunately, I'll be going home next week in time to enroll at a vocational school back home that offers a great accounting program. And the best part, is that I'll be home to create more cards... yahoooooo!!!

Hello everyone, I just want to share my latest creation. While watching the Oscars tonight, I made a sympathy card using this weeks Our Creative corner sketch.

I started with a simple white cardstock for the base, layered it with Pink Pirouette (discountinued) and the Ginger blossom dsp (discountinued). My centerpiece comes from Inkadinkado's Spiritual sketches.

This was a lovely piece to work with. I wanted to share the intricut details of this stamp, I thoroughly enjoyed coloring this with the SU! blender pens to make it really delicate. You can barely see the subtle blue outline, but its there. I hope you like. Toodles.

Hello everyone, thanks for stopping by. Today I wanted to post a pretty card where I learned a very fun technique. So with the help of Sweet Sunday sketch challenge #58 , I want to show you my first attempt at sponging and stamping with its same colors.

To start, I began with 4 1/4"x8 1/2" Old olive cardstock for the base. Next I cut three Very vanilla pieces at 2 1/2" x 2 1/2". To get the neat sponging edges, I covered 1" of the pieces with post-its and sponged the edges with the color I want to stamp my image with. Very easy! Finally i added the ribbon and the sentiment from the SU! Seasonal icons set on the corner. I hope you like. Tooddles.

TGIF everyone! Unfortunately if you live in So Cal. it will not be so pleasant this weekend, depending on whether or not you like the rain or not. As for me I think I'd prefer my rain on the weekdays and the Sun on the weekends..... C'est la vie!
Anyhoo, todays creation is inspired by this months Holiday... St. Patricks Day! While browsing splitcoast I saw alot of clever ways people made clovers from heart shapes. So I went with it and used my SU! Priceless set along with some gold ink to give it a more celtic look.

To start I used a Very vanilla cardstock base. For my centerpiece I used a piece of Old olive for the beginning of the clover base and frayed the edges for texture. And then I followed up with Kraft cardstock.
So you can see that my focal point was based on the design of the ribbon. The ribbon I must add was a bargin! I found that in a dollar bin a couple of years ago and I've been kicking myself for not purchasing more. Word to the wise, if there's ribbon or paper you really love, buy lots of it! I hope you like. Birthday Dreams

Hello everyone, thank you for stopping by. Really quick I just want to share my weeks adventures... sort of speak. First DMV horror story... first of all I took care of my registration renewal weeks ago and now I'm getting letters from the DMV saying I still haven't renewed my tags??!! One I went in person, and two I have a receipt. So what is going on there?! Anyway, I just thought I'd share that with you. Just in case it happens to you all you have to do is make sure you go down there and find out who drop the ball. On the other side of the spectrum, I did go to Las Vegas this past weekend just to get over my cabin fever of being stuck home from being ill. I had a blast and it was great seeing our best friend again.

Todays card is inspired from this weeks Mojo Monday sketch challenge# 128. I thought I'd use the SU! Raspberry Tart dsp with the Dreams du Jour set.

For the base I used a basic white cardstock, then layered it with chocolate chip and kiwi kiss dsp. I wanted to add more texture with sewing the first two pieces and then layered the pattern piece. Then I layered the long of pattern piece with the kiwi kiss cardstock, and used the rhinestone brads for the ends.

for the centerpiece I used my spellbinder to cut the scalloped edge circle in Regal rose, the small circle in Rose red. The felt flowers come from the Flower fusion I & II and the happy birthday comes from the Teenie tiny words set layered with a piece of Pretty in pink. Last I thought it would like lovely with a couple of the flowers edges be enhaced by piercing a couple of their edges. I hope you like.

I used a basic white cardstock for the base and used the SU! Sweet always dsp for the bottom portion of the card and used the scalloped edge punch from SU! The very on the card is a piece of Pumpkin pie cardstock. For the scalloped circle I used the large templates from Spellbinder. The cupcake is from the SU! Hello everyone, thanks for stopping by. Here's a card inspired by this weeks Mojo challenge. It called for circle or square, so I went with the square. Since we're in rainy season and if you live in So. Cal you know that we've had some bipolar weather... one day it's raining the next its in the mid 70's. lol

So here I started with SU! Sage shadow cardstock for the base. Then layered it with a basic white, followed it with again My minds eye Quite contrary collection. I tried to set a scene of the rain to the left the clouds the right and the flowers in the middle with the phrase shine in the scalloped punched cut out. I wanted to illustrate the beauty of the paper rather than covering it with a stamped image. I hope you like it.

Hello everyone. I'm so sorry I haven't posted anything lately. I've been ill for 4 days now and I cant seem to get rid of it just yet. It started with a tickle in my throat and then the sneezing and runny nose followed.... I know by the time I developed the cough that it's almost over...lol But the cough will most likely linger till I overwhelm it with cough syrups and teas... It sucks to be ill and not have the energy or will to be able to create. Unfortunately, if you live in L.A., you know the rain is coming again and the sunshine will elude for a longer time. In the meantime, it'll just keep me indoors creating more.... on to the latest creation. Today I want to use Splitcoast Wednesday Card sketch challenge #268.

I wanted to make the stamped images more pronounced, so I didn't use too much colored cardstock. Instead I just used the basic black & white, and for texture I dried embossed the background.

To follow the sketch, I duplicated the bottom piece of the flower stem and gave it a 3D effect by rising it with dimensional from SU!. And then added the colorful butterflies by themselves and then the solitary one on the blossom piece to make as though they're all in unison .All the stamped images come from the Inkadinkado Beauty stems clear set. Hi everyone, I hope you had a great weekend and a very Happy Valentine's day. So I had a friend who went snowboarding this weekend and well it goes with out saying... an injury occurred, so I made this card with her in mind. For this card I used Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge .

I really loved this sketch for this particular sentiment, because I wanted to center a small nature scene. The SU! Curvy words set was a perfect choice to depict the butterflies fluttering about. For the paper I used the basic black, old olive, baja breeze, Autum Vine dsp (discontinued), and Fall flowers dsp (discontinued).

For the background of my nature scene, I used a brayer using Baja breeze and old olive ink. The Butterflies came from the SU! Dreams du Jour set, embossed it and filled in the colors with real red and pumpkin pie ink pens. The circle scalloped edge comes from the spellbinder layer stencils. I hope you like.

Before I had a glimmer of creating cards, I went to fashion design school, and Alexander McQueen was one of my favorite designers along with all the other greats. My prayers are with his family and friends... the fashion industry just lost a great creator!

So in memory of this fabulous designer I wanted to make a card using one of his designs for a color sketch, along with this weeks mojo card sketch.

I thought this was a great way to pay tribute to his work. He's a bit eccentric for most people, but you have to love the colors and concepts he put together.

Happy Valentine's Day

Hello everyone. So Valentine's day is 4 days away and I've been on a roll making cards for my friends. I have a full schedule this weekend keeping myself distracted from whats supposed to be a fabulous holiday. Friday night, I hope to see a certain special someone I just started dating. Because its still new, I dont want it to be an awkward moment for us on Sunday. Saturday night will be a fun date with all my girlfriends at the night club dancing the night away. Followed by brunch with my family on sunday morning.

Well enough about me, lets get on with the latest creation. I liked the last card so much I wanted to do something similar and simple.

Again, I started with a plain white base cardstock, and added the rest of the elements. I'm thoroughly enjoying the new 3 corner punch from Friskar I purchased at the local craft store, that I wanted to illustrate the other designs from it.

Also I added the silver brads to the punched corners to enhance the cuts. Then I used the SU! Hello everyone, greetings from the sunshine state.... seriously, lots of sunshine coming our way after all the rain and mudslides some have encountered I think we really need it now. The weather man says we'll be in the mid 70's this weekend and 80's by next week.... WOW! But enough about the weather..... I want to share my latest Valentine creation.

I thought of this card when I was at the local craft store. There were lots of filagre designs for Valentine stickers and pop-ups. So I thought I'd make my own with some ribbon I had left over from Christmas. It has this awesome kraft color flowers and the red makes it look just amazing. So I focused the rest of the design based on the ribbon itself. It's simple and yet it still looks great with less.

I started with the Kraft cardstock for the centerpiece, punched the corners with a Fiskars 3 corner punch called Heritage, then added the Real red heart. The design on the Vanilla white piece was from a SU! wheel that I purchase a while back I cant even find the catalog I got it from..lol And for the last piece I use Kraft paper with Riding hood ink from SU! with the Happy heart set for the sentiment in the middle and at the bottom of the card. Hello everyone, I hope you had a great weekend, as did I. I've been busy these days planning a small milestone of mine... my 35th birthday. The one thing I haven't mentioned is that I share it with a twin sister. I find it very flattering that my friends and family look forward in celebrating it with us. I really dont know why really, maybe because my sister takes it a bit over board, where as I, bring her down from that and maybe the parties turn out just right? It always becomes a chore for me to make sure things are just right, even though I'm usually the one opposed to the idea of a party. I'm always worried no one would show up?

Anyway enough of my neurosis, on with my creation. lol So in leu off "our" birthday, I wanted to make a birthday card with our month color ... Amethyst.

I really like this designer paper from SU!, Cottage Wall. It makes it easier to use corresponding colors because it has lots to work with. I used a basic white cardstock for the base the card, then SU! in color Rich Razzleberry for a dark base, followed by Orchid opulence and Old olive.

For the centerpiece of the card I used my spellbinder for the cirlce scallop edge, and for the two circle pieces I used the Circle scissor plus. The butterflies and the flowers stencils came with my purchase of the spellbinder, so I really wanted to add it to this piece. For the sentiment I used a double sided piece from last years SU! catalog called Birthdays count, part of their under $10 promotions where it contained the verse and the happy birthday at the bottom of the card. Hello everyone, I hope you've been keeping dry during these tremedous down pours we've been having in So. Cal. I'm not complaining for the much needed rain, but it's been too much. And it's been especially hard for the folks in the burn areas in Flintridge, La Canada... We're praying for you.
Well it's time for another post created with my new toy, the Spellbinder! Since we're still in time for Valentines, and my birthday is on February 1st. I wanted to use the "My minds eye -Beloved" designer paper for this creation too. It's just so pretty and versatile.

I started with a simple white cardstock for the base. Then I wanted to pop the colors of the designer paper with chocolate chip, real red, and groovy guava(discontinued). Once I had my starting piece I used my spellbinder to cut the scalloped edge circle for the base of my cupcake and sentiment.

Making the cupcake was fun. I wanted it have some dimension, so I stamped it first on the circle then I layered it with the different colors to match the designer paper. After I stuck my ribbon on with a strong adhesive, I layed the cupcake base on top for the finishing touch. Pretty cute, huh? I hope you like it and than you again for stopping by. Tooddles.

Hello everyone, thank you for visiting. Well it almost time for Valentines Day and everyone is already creating beautiful cards. I love the combinations of the pinks, reds and browns. It's more interesting when there's other colors thrown in there to make them pop.

For instance take this latest creation. I fell in love with this paper collection from My minds eye called Be-loved. It has a different colors that I relate to from Stampin' Up. Sage Shadows, Groovy guava (discountinued), Real reds. My co-worker asked that I make her daughter a birthday card. And seeing how its in February, I thought I but in a Valentines design it in. It's a terrific blog to go to when you've got creator's block. So I gave it a go and the following is my take on the challenge.

I started with the SU! Sweet Always dsp, regal rose, pumpkin pie, chocolate chip, and dusty durango cardstock. I used the "Trees for all season" (discontinued) and "Trendy trees" SU! sets. And for the center piece I used the ticket corner punch. I hope you like it. Tooddles.

Hello everyone, thanks for dropping by. I found this really cute blog called The Pink Elephant challenge. I really liked their ideas and I thought I'd give it a try.

The challenged called for 2 designer paper, 3 buttons and some snowflakes. I did all the requires but one. I didn't think the button would pull it off. But I did make up for it with the 3 scalloped edged cicles and the 3 different snowflakes from SU! snow flurries set. The designer paper came from Cloud 9 called Cocoa Mint from the local craft store. The basic color cardstock is SU!'s chocolate chip and Baja breeze. I hope you like it. please come again.. Hey folks, I'm back! It's a new year and I have new creations to share with you. So I'd like to share my creation for the new Mojo challenge #120.

I had so much fun playing with this sketch with my new toy, the Spellbinder. Aside from the small templates it came with I purchased the Classic scalloped large circles, that was perfect for this.

I started with a basic white cardstock for my card, then used Stampin' Up Candy Lane dsp for the background and the two other large pieces. I also used Chocolate chip cardstock for the scallop edge and the whats underneath the pattern paper. For the sentiment part, I used Spellbinders shapeabilities ribbon tag trio. For the greeting I used the SU! A happy heart set. The ribbon is SU! Pretty in pink 1/4" ribbon and pinned it down with a red brad. For my main image I used Dressy Ebony from the Greeting farm digital stamps. And for the circle scalloped edge I used SU! Ridding hood red and Pretty in pink. Well folks I didn't get everything I wanted for Christmas, so I got it my damn self..lol. I was really wishing and hoping I'd get my Spellbinder and some shapeabilities or borderabilities.. something named funny like that... but no such luck. So I decided to use my "rainy day" money and invested. It sounds better if I say "invested" rather than say "spend". Hi Folks! So sorry I've been busy these days... 'tis the season... lol Also I've been holding out on doing any more creations, beacuse I'm really hoping for a special christmas present ... a "Spellbinder wizard" ..(hint, hint) ;)

In the meantime, I'm in the middle of organizating a big New Years party, and of course the invites are handmade. So I might as well display them and maybe by January I'll be posting new creations like a mad woman!

My sis and I can up with these colors to set a theme for the gala night. You can't go wrong with these and it definately makes it more regal. I started with SU! A brand new year, on whisper white card stock, layered with basic black, and made the whole card with basic gray. Then I used a trifold to add more anticipation for the individual who opens the invite. I found this awesome printed paper at the local craft store that was just right for the colors we were going for. I also found this very inexpensive clear stamp set that had the "time, place, etc" them and I added the filagree design from the SU! Baroque set with silver ink for more elegant look. And finally I used an organza ribbon to top is off. I think it turn out just right for a the budget we're working with. Thank you for stopping by, and if I don't post anything any time soon, .... Good morning everyone, I hope you week is off to a great start. Aside from the glorious weather we continue to have here in Souther Cali, I had a very good friend lose her father last week. So I kept her in mind when I made this card.

I started with the floral image in Basic black and embossed it with clear powder. Then I just colored the middle of each lilly with Yoyo yellow and the leaves are with Old olive. The next step was to go over the entire image with Versa mark and covered it again with clear embossing powder.

The next process was easy. Its easier to cover the rest f the paper by sponging an ink of choice, to not disturb the image you started with. I picked Baja breeze to not take away from the lillies. Then I added the water ripples by using a white gel pen to identify what parts of the images are in water. I think it came out quite nice.... after several drafts, lol. I hope you like it. Hi everyone, I hope you had a great weekend. I went to the craft store today and bought a beautiful collection of designer paper "Cloud 9" brand called Cocoa Mint. I thought it would look unique and rustic to do a sort of christmas card that has the dusty orange with browns and blues. I added some chocolate chip ink on the edges to the paper to give it a little aged look. the very merry sentiment comes from SU! Sweet and short set. I hope you like it. Have a great week, tooddles!

Hello everyone, I hope you're enjoying your extra hour of sleep... I know I am, lol. It's Mojo Monday challenge time again and I'm excited about this sketch. Since I'm on the subject of sleep, I thought I'd make a dreamlike card with the clouds and all. I've had this rubber stamp from years ago from a place, that sadly is no longer in business, but I feel it's still current.

Also the cloud stamp was from the same little shop which I remember buying at the same time because I thought they looked really cool and not too cartoony. I used Baja breeze, Sage shadow and Whisper white cardstock. For the clouds behind kitty, I used a scallop punch and sponged Baja breeze ink all around him. The sentiment phrase comes from the SU! I added some ink on the edges of all the paper pieces to give it a vintage look. And the accordion circle was especially fun and easier than I thought. Hello everyone, another beautiful morning in Southern Cali and my fingures are crossed for the Angels..lol I was hoping that with their fallen comrad Nick Adenhart #34 they would rip into the Yankees,.... no such luck, but they have one more chance today... I have my figures crossed :) But on to my latest creation... I haven't made much wedding cards so I thought I'd give it a try. I decided to use the Easel card sketch for this one.

I wanted to go for a non-traditional wedding card that had a splash of color instead. I used the Baroque set from SU!and used a clear embossing powder for the design to pop. I followed with the Boho flower punch and added a dot of Summer sun stampin' write marker on the flower.

Next I wanted to add another element once you prop the card open. I used the Congrats set with the the wedding saying to bring the card together. For the Congratulations I used one of the rubber stamps for the Always set.

And here's the finished result. To prop the card at an easel pose I used a yellow rhinestone brad to give it a little extra bling. I think it came out quite nice. I hope you like it and enjoy the reat of your week. Tooddles

Hello everyone, thanks for visiting. this card was created for a dear friend whose birthday is today. We will be celebrating her birthday this weekend with dinner and drinks. So I thought that the SU! Bitty Birthday set would be perfect for the centerpiece.

I layered it with Pumpkin pie, Regal rose and chocolate chip because she likes the cards when the're heavy, she says. Not very good for my pocket, but whatever she wants, it's her day. lol I had fun with the scallop edge punch, where I add more dimensions to the little pictures.

Here you can see the way I added the banner and gave it's wave, and then put pop up dots so that the banner can stay in wave motion. I also added the rhinestone brads to give a bling. I can't to give it to her this weekend... I hope she likes it. Well I hope your week has had a good start. Tooddles.

Hello, just wanted to share a pic of these cute spaghetti size jars that I decorated for three new friends I meet at my new job in Westwood. First, I have to tell you what motivated me to do this for them. They all had plastic cups for keeping their paperclips, and the little office they were crammed into is kinda dark, and bland. And to add injury to insult, they share the office with a not so pleasant person. So I wanted to brighten up their day with these colorful jars so it may brighten up their day and fill them with their paperclips. They were very appreciative to say the least.
